Password checkup
This feature was previously an extension. Later it became a website. Now, this comes as a built-in feature in the browser. This feature warns you if your username and password combination leaked in a public data breach. To turn on this feature, go to Sync and Google services. Then look for the option that says, ” warn you if passwords are exposed.” Or you can quickly type chrome://flags in the address bar and look for the “password leak” option. Turn on the detection and restart Chrome to enable this password checkup feature.
Phishing the phishers
While you try to stay completely aware and away from phishing websites (the websites which pretend to be the original website but in reality are the fake ones), it is never a bad idea being on the safe side. After all, no one knows when some websites could be smart enough to trick us in losing our login credentials. Along with login credentials, you can lose payment credentials like OTP, Card Number, CVV, etc. Google said that it maintains a list of phishing websites. This list updated every 30 minutes. However, this feature is more enhanced in Chrome 79. It offers protection from phishing websites on desktop. To get all the phishing updates on your browser, enable “Do searches and browsing better” option from the “Sync and Google services” section from your Chrome settings.
Blocks the HTTPS Mixed Content
The chrome is blocking sites that do not have their content on HTTPS. It has let many sites to transfer their data to a secure HTTPS. Chrome didn’t show the secure green padlock for the websites that didn’t have HTTPS in their domain. It has led 90% of the chrome traffic to be over HTTPS. Now, Google is making its next step. For a website to show as secure, the site will need to have all its resources over HTTPS and not just the main domain.
Freeze unused tabs
This option allows the users to turn off the use of system resources by inactive tabs. Hence if a tab has been inactive for more than 5 minutes, we can turn off the system resources used for such tabs. This option not enabled by default, but one can turn this on by typing the following in the address bar.
chrome://flags/#proactive-tab-freeze
Increase loading speed when going backward or forwards
Now, whenever you are navigating forwards or backward from a webpage, you can let the Chrome load the page from its cache data. It would eventually let the pages to be loaded faster.
