Chrome 79 Enabled Hidden Security Performance Features

The latest version of Chrome has launched as Chrome 79.  With super cool features as password checkup to blacklisting of as sites, this version filled with amazing features. To update your browser, click on those three dots on the top right corner of your browser. Go to help them go to about Chrome and refresh your browser. Update the ones in your phones from the app store or Play Store, respectively. While the update gets downloaded, check out some latest and cool features supported by the upgrade.

Password checkup

This feature was previously an extension. Later it became a website. Now, this comes as a built-in feature in the browser. This feature warns you if your username and password combination leaked in a public data breach. To turn on this feature, go to Sync and Google services. Then look for the option that says, ” warn you if passwords are exposed.”  Or you can quickly type chrome://flags in the address bar and look for the “password leak” option. Turn on the detection and restart Chrome to enable this password checkup feature.

Phishing the phishers

While you try to stay completely aware and away from phishing websites (the websites which pretend to be the original website but in reality are the fake ones), it is never a bad idea being on the safe side.  After all, no one knows when some websites could be smart enough to trick us in losing our login credentials. Along with login credentials, you can lose payment credentials like OTP, Card Number, CVV, etc. Google said that it maintains a list of phishing websites. This list updated every 30 minutes. However, this feature is more enhanced in Chrome 79. It offers protection from phishing websites on desktop. To get all the phishing updates on your browser, enable “Do searches and browsing better” option from the “Sync and Google services” section from your Chrome settings.

Blocks the HTTPS Mixed Content

The chrome is blocking sites that do not have their content on HTTPS. It has let many sites to transfer their data to a secure HTTPS. Chrome didn’t show the secure green padlock for the websites that didn’t have HTTPS in their domain. It has led 90% of the chrome traffic to be over HTTPS. Now, Google is making its next step. For a website to show as secure, the site will need to have all its resources over HTTPS and not just the main domain.

Freeze unused tabs

This option allows the users to turn off the use of system resources by inactive tabs. Hence if a tab has been inactive for more than 5 minutes, we can turn off the system resources used for such tabs. This option not enabled by default, but one can turn this on by typing the following in the address bar.

Increase loading speed when going backward or forwards

Now, whenever you are navigating forwards or backward from a webpage, you can let the Chrome load the page from its cache data. It would eventually let the pages to be loaded faster.

New UI

The new update provides transformation in UI for the profile section. This transformation has done to ensure that whenever you are saving a login id credential, you are keeping it to your account only. It allows users to check if their id is logged in or not.
